Smaller than New May Wah but my family comes here often since it's only a block from where we live. They also sell some Vietnamese grocery here like the foil wrapped cha pork roll, fresh noodles on a styrofoam plate, and durian moon cakes. The fruit and veggies are good here, but sometimes Smart N Final is cheaper when they're having a sale.

I think this store would be better off if they had the guys who stock the shelves as cashiers. The ladies aren't friendly :( but I still go here pretty often because: -it's not as big as the other store on 8th -I can get in and out of here quickly -it has more goods than the vegetable place on 8th -they have the herbs that I need for Vietnamese dishes The vegetables are usually pretty good, but please check them carefully for freshness. They have pretty good produce turnover in my opinion. They don't have specialty ingredients for Thai food like lime leaves, galangal, etc. but I can make most Asian foods with the stuff they have. I recommend comparing prices with other nearby stores. I enjoy grocery shopping (sometimes) so I can walk between three markets on Clement within an hour easily.

I feel it's high time I posted about one of my secret spots for affordable and fresh Asian, but also Southeast Asian ingredients. Hear me out! This is what has served me the most in coming here. This is the place for your preserved meats, dried seafoods, and in-season vegetables--they give you options. Can't afford the $85/lb dried giant scallops to "bo tong" (boil soup)? They got shredded versions of that for half that price. All the stuff right by the door? Green as hell in-season vegetables. I've gotten lychee in the summers, juicy hairy gourds and the mildest bitter melons end of summer, and in the winter, several sweet tasting cabbages. Like any Asian grocery store, you get to check what you're purchasing. Check wisely. Unlike May Wah though, sometimes you do find gems, whereas I'm always appalled at the withered and sad state of produce at May Wah. If I'm in a pinch, I'll grab pork bones from here. I don't think their produce outside of what's in-season looks very... buoyant. But I usually come on a weekday maybe not at the times when they've done their stock deliveries. There's also, if you look in the freezers or the fridges, freshly blended fish paste to make fish cakes, shrimp paste (I think, from the color!) and flavored sausages, mostly labeled in Vietnamese, but not un-Googleble. I'm all about fresh, home/store-made Asian food and spices, ingredients that aren't as processed (or with very little preservatives) as much as possible. Here's where I find all that.

I don't usually buy vegetables here because their vegetables are old. I only get the dried snacks here. Lemon puff is 1 of my childhood snacks. There is lemon paste in between two crackers. The flavors are still the same, really yummy! :)

Fun Asian grocery store. They have countless varieties of noodles. They even sell fresh durian that turned out to be $25 or so for a whole one yet considering they are rare and hard to find better to get it here than a trip to SE Asia. Lots of interesting products. The only caveat is being a longtime vegan aka strict vegetarian didn't like all the fish products on ice.

Grocery store is a standard Chinese grocery store with dumplings, snacks, vegetables, ramen, and Asian things mostly Chinese. I got a small batch of groceries. They had a milk tea drink I hadn't had before. Pretty good for mom's standards at home.

Pineapples for $1. Sriracha for $2.50. What more do you need? These prices are so good, family guy would put in an arm-flailing inflatable tube man if they covered this store. There's a pretty good selection of produce, sauces, cookies, and any Asian food item you might need in your life. Staff was friendly and quick, and it's a cute little corner grocery serving the community that we should be glad is here. I don't have a ton more to say about it, other than that I'll be back! I didn't get to explore it fully, and it looks like they're a solid source for great prices and some hard-to-find items.
